Hello! I'm Cheryl...

... and I'm so glad you are here! Welcome to the place where I pursue piano, poetry, and possibility. I love what both words and music can do for our souls, for social change, for connecting us to something bigger and more beautiful than we've assumed is attainable.

I hope you'll find something worth reading, something worth hearing, and maybe even something worth keeping!

My Story

Vincent van Gogh once said "... and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?" and I would add to his wisdom: love and music

I had the privilege of them all, being raised in a modest home full of love, literature, music, faith, travel, and laughter. I started piano lessons and writing at the age of seven, and looking back, I don't find it coincidental I loved both so intensely. Music and writing have always been a core part of who I am.  In recent years, as I've pursued both music and poetry professionally (although separately), I realized I could do them both simultaneously! After all, what is music if not poetry? And what is poetry, if not music

I have been married to my husband for 25 years and we have 8 children (yes, eight!). They are the source of my absolute joy. And although I have faced debilitating Depression, chronic illness, miscarriage, the death of loved ones, financial loss, and the difficulties of parenting, my life is full of love, music, poetry, art, nature, and faith. And, dear Vincent, if that is not enough...

More?

I love international travel, cluttered vision boards, yoga, honesty, walking at sunrise, ethical politics, romance, intelligent and witty conversations, hazelnut chocolate, all four seasons, laughing with my kids, and my brilliant, devoted husband -- he has always been my biggest fan.

I currently live with my big, beautiful, chaotic family (and 3 cats) in the Flint Hills of Kansas.
